Transonic Aeroelastic Wind Tunnel Model

We have finished the testing and packaging of our Transonic Aeroelastic Wind Tunnel Model. The model is representative of a generic fighter wing similar to a 5th generation fighter aircraft wing.


The wing integrates well with its mounting hardware, which is called a Fuselage (12 foot canoe or fairing). The Fuselage was designed as an offset for a wall boundary layer and to keep the air flow smooth around the wing.

AIAA ConferenceTwo CAES employees attended the AIAA 2016 SciTech Meeting at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, CA in January 2016.

In addition to attending technical sessions that pertained to ongoing topics of research that CAES is currently involved with, we connected with existing customers, connected with new businesses, and forged new relationships.

Sessions on conceptual design, stress analysis, and computational aeroelasticity seemed to pertain directly to our areas of expertise. In addition, panel discussions and keynote lectures shed significant light on where the industry is heading as a whole.

We connected with several individuals from the NASA, the Air Force, and the Navy. Moreover, potential new partnerships with Boeing and Lockheed were seeded.

As far as small business networking was concerned, we attended both days of the expo and networked very effectively with other CAE companies.
